Improve civil society operations, association, and assembly in South Sudan

The Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) implemented a six-month project in Juba County, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan from April 20th to August 30th, 2020. This project, funded by Freedom House (Lifeline), aimed to improve civil society operations, association, and assembly in South Sudan. A key focus of CPA’s work was engaging with over 300 stakeholders to promote better coordination and networking among the National Security Service (NSS) and the Civil Society Coalition on Defense of Civic Space (CSCDCS). As a result, it is now much easier for members of CSOs to obtain permission letters for conducting workshop trainings in Juba.

In addition to this, CPA conducted policy analysis on the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and the NGO Act of 2016, which is currently under discussion in the National Parliament. CPA is at the forefront of advocacy on national issues that affect the general populace in South Sudan.
